Spa day!

The last day of school was an early dismissal for Mackenzie and Meredith and so we were all home by 1pm. I had a spa day all set up for them when we got home!

I think they were pretty excited!

Of course, the spa day also included some summer gifts.

Mermaid fins, books, nail polishes...

The mermaid tails were good in theory...not so great in the pool like you think they might be. ;)

I found a lot of the stuff at the dollar store, so it was a fairly inexpensive way to have fun!  I pretended to be their spa lady and talked in a high pitch voice while I wrapped their hair and put their eye masks on. ;)

And then I gave them a snack and turned on a movie while I got their water ready.

While I did their pedicures, they did their own makeovers!

Meredith's looked the most natural and she did surprisingly well.

And of course, Miranda's was really funny!

These are my favorite pictures of Meredith looking at herself in the mirror! ;)

Sometimes the movie is more important than the makeup! ;)

And then came the nails!

Cute little toes!

The girls loved it and it may have to be a tradition!  We had lots of fun and it was a great way to ring in the summer!

2017 Summer - Week 1

We are halfway through summer, but I'm going to try to catch up with our summer shenanigans!

On the last day of school we had a spa day, but I'll post about that separately with a lot more photos!

Friday, the first official day of summer was National Donut Day.  Not sure why Meredith was upset...

We also had swim lessons for all three girls that morning followed by lunch at our favorite place - Jimmy Changas!

The rest of the day was down time while I cleaned out all of the stuff they brought home from school in the last week of school!  Look at all of that!

I mentioned this in Mackenzie's Celebration of Learning Post, but here is her goal she made at the beginning of the school year.  "Get to level P in reading by the end of the school year."

And this was in her report card!  She was so surprised and excited! I think it just fueled her even more because she's already read 8 books this summer! ;)

On Saturday we went to Galveston for the sandcastle competition (just to watch).  I'll do a separate post for this too!  The girls had a blast!

Sunday we tried a new place for us and it was ok, but the desserts were even better!

On Monday, we were supposed to go to Moshi and Gapa's to celebrate my dad's birthday, but the rain canceled our plans.  We started the day with lego building and the girls gave up about 30 minutes in.  :(  I spent a good part of my day rebuilding princess lego castles!

Our trip to the dentist on Tuesday took way too long!  I think we waited for 45 minutes and then our appointment was an hour at least because they couldn't get the girls all at one time. :(

However, we still managed to have a lot of fun.  Mackenzie was in the chair!

Meredith was in the chair!

And finally Miranda was in the chair!  Have you ever seen someone so relaxed in a dentist chair?

We were so worn out and hungry from that visit that we went home and relaxed and worked on VBS.

Wednesday was our first official pool day at the neighborhood pool!

We also met some friends of Miranda's there.

On the way out, Miranda looked pretty cute with her swimsuit in a wedgie! ;)

And since it was national milkshake day we got frosty's - not really milkshakes, but that's ok.

On Thursday, friends of ours came over for what was supposed to be a 15 minute pick up and turned into a 2 hour playdate!  At somepoint, the girls stole my phone and took pictures of themselves!

We have finally been consistent with our Friday night movie night, so the girls eat popcorn and we watch a new movie or tv show that we have never seen before!

We also had some crafting that day!

On Saturday was a swim party that the big girls were invited to.

That night, Brandon and I went out to dinner for our 16th wedding anniversary!  I love to go to dinner and not have to worry about cutting someone's food or making sure they are happy.  It's so nice to be able to talk to Brandon and not be interrupted!

Our first 10 days of summer were awesome!
