Again, I was fascinated with the random rock piles on the mountain.
The visitor center for the Helen Hunt Falls was pretty cool!
They had a cute book nook for the kids. The girls liked looking at the books and seeing the paintings on the wall.
Not sure what they were looking at, but they all looked at the same time, so it looks pretty cute.
The girls were also able to watercolor hummingbird pictures. With Meredith's new found interest with hummingbirds, this was pretty cool for her.
Miranda and Mackenzie's works of art.
Meredith's finished card.
Meredith really liked this visitor's center. she acted like an animal. in front of the mural. Plus we bought a glass hummingbird and a piece of fools gold for each of the girls. It was a great little gem on our trip.
The girls even had a chance to feel and learn about different rocks and gemstones before heading to the waterfall.
And then there was the waterfall! It's fairly small, but so pretty.
So much so, that Brandon pulled the car over and let me take pictures on the side of the road.
After the Helen Hunt Falls, we headed to the Olympic Training Facility for a tour. It was a perfect place to see since we had been watching the Olympics all week. The girls got to sit in a bobsled before the tour.
Unfortunately, this didn't last very long. About 20 minutes into the tour, Mackenzie started feeling nauseous so we had to leave. I think she was just super hungry and a little hot. We headed to Jason's Deli for lunch and all was well after we had all eaten. While we were eating lunch we tried to find something else to do, but couldn't find anything we were all interested in. That's when we decided to go ahead and leave that afternoon to head home rather than wait until the next morning as planned. We quickly headed home and cleaned up and packed up and were out on the road by 2 pm.
The girls wanted a picture of their room they had at the house. ;)
And I had to take some last few pictures on our way out of the mountains!
And then came the rain. ;)
In New Mexico, there was actually snow on the side of the road. Unfortunately, that meant that the road to the top of the Volcano was once again, closed. :(
We drove to Amarillo again and then came all the way home the next day. It was a great trip and since we came home a day early, we had an "extra" day to go grocery shopping and do laundry to get all caught up before school started the next week!
So, that was our summer vacation and we loved it! I'm going to end this post with one of my favorite pictures from the trip. Of course, it looks like a winter trip, but that's ok! ;)
